Thank you for using TripRecon. We care about your privacy and want to explain clearly what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

Who we are

TripRecon ("we," "us," "our") provides a travel-safety and planning service including a community of scam stories, an AI-powered briefing tool, and updates through social media.

Information we collect

• Account & contact data: Email address when you subscribe or sign in for updates (if available in the future).
• User submissions: Scam stories, tips, photos, and any metadata you voluntarily provide (city/country, scam type, etc.).
• Usage data: Basic analytics (pages viewed, device/browser info) to improve the product.
• Technical data: IP address and cookies strictly necessary for security (e.g., admin session cookie).

How we use information

• Provide and improve the Explore, Share, and Brief features.
• Review, edit (for clarity/safety), publish, and display submitted stories.
• Send updates through our social media channels.
• Protect our users and service (fraud prevention, abuse detection, moderation).
• Comply with legal obligations.

AI services

We may send prompts and content (e.g., destination, story summaries) to AI providers to generate travel briefs or assist with moderation/rewrites. We take steps to minimize personal data in prompts.

Legal bases

• Performance of a contract (providing the service).
• Legitimate interests (security, product improvement).
• Consent (receiving updates).

Sharing of information

We use trusted processors to operate the service:

• Hosting & DB: Vercel, Supabase (data storage, file storage).
• AI providers: OpenAI (brief generation and content assistance).

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose data if required by law, to protect safety, or to enforce our Terms.

Cookies and similar technologies

• Strictly necessary: Admin authentication cookie.
• Analytics (optional): If enabled, we may use privacy-friendly analytics. You can opt out where applicable.

Your choices & rights

• Updates: You can unfollow or message us via Instagram to stop receiving updates.
• Access/Erase: You can request a copy or deletion of your personal data, and ask us to remove a story you posted.
• Corrections: Ask us to update inaccurate information.
• Objections/Restrictions/Portability: Available where applicable by law.

Data retention

• Emails (if collected in the future): Kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
• Stories & media: Kept while published; we can remove upon request or for policy reasons.
• Logs: Kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

Children

TripRecon is for users 16+ (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

International transfers

We may process data in countries other than where you live. We use appropriate safeguards (e.g., SCCs) when required.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and, where required, notify you.
